What fkFilmLab can do
225 looks in 13 families
Preview every look on your own photo instantly. Search by name or filter by family, and keep favourites in “My looks” in the order you choose.
Fine control
Set look strength, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, saturation, warm/cool, green/magenta, faded colour and vignette. Double-click a label to reset one value.
Grain & glow
Film grain, softness, and light bleeding around bright areas (halation and bloom), all switchable together with Grain & glow.
Before / after
Hold to see the original, split the screen, or open the histogram.
Film-camera stamps
Add a date and time, the look name, your own text or a logo, in one of 7 colours.
EXIF & GPS control
Keep the original camera info and strip GPS location by default before you share. Thumbnails and serial numbers are always removed.
Analyze views
Simulated views such as negative invert or text boost for looking closer at a photo. They are visual aids, not measurements or diagnoses.
Private by design
Photos are processed by your own graphics card (WebGL2) and never uploaded. Favourites and settings stay in this browser.

What people use it for
Film-style photos from any camera or phone
Give a plain digital shot the colour, contrast and grain of a roll of film.
Retro date-stamp look
Add a camera-style date and time to a photo for that disposable-camera feel.
Share photos without leaking location
Strip GPS data before posting, while keeping the rest of the camera info if you want it.
Your files stay on your device
fkFilmLab processes photos with your browser’s graphics card (WebGL2). No photos are uploaded to our servers. Your settings, such as favourite looks and stamp options, are stored in this browser only.
These pages use anonymous page-view analytics (Google Analytics); the contents of your files are never part of that data. Read more about privacy.

Good to know
- Results are simulated film tones, not photographs taken on real film, and they are not affiliated with any film brand.
- HEIC photos from iPhone cannot be opened by most browsers. Export them as JPEG first.
- Very large photos (over about 24 megapixels) are downscaled automatically, and saving a 24 MP photo can take several seconds on a phone.
- The date stamp uses the date and time when you press Save, not when the photo was taken.
- fkFilmLab is an early release, and features may be added or changed.
Frequently asked questions
Is fkFilmLab free? Do I need to sign up?
Every look is free, with no sign-up and no login. Open the page and press “Start editing”.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Editing and saving the JPEG both happen inside your browser. Your photos stay on your device.
How many looks are there, and how is this different from a normal filter?
There are 225 looks in 13 colour families. Each one adjusts tone, colour, contrast, grain, sharpness, glow around highlights and vignette to approach the feel of film, and you can then tune strength, light and colour yourself.
Does it keep EXIF data and GPS location?
By default it keeps the original camera info and removes GPS location. You can change this from the options next to Save. Embedded thumbnails, camera serial numbers and maker-specific data are always removed.
Can I open HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Most browsers cannot open HEIC. Export the photo as JPEG from your photos app first. The page tells you if a file cannot be opened.
How large a photo can I use?
Photos up to about 24 megapixels are supported (16 megapixels on low-memory devices or Safari). Larger photos are downscaled automatically before editing.
Can the Analyze modes diagnose plant disease or cracks?
No. They are simulated views that change colour and contrast so details are easier to see. They are not measuring or diagnostic tools, and Heat Map and UV Look are not real thermal or UV imaging.
